Last Will and Testament of Amos DeTurk

I Amos DeTurk of Tulpehocken Township Berks County and State of Pennsylvania, being of sound mind, memory and understanding do make and publish this, my last will and testament in the manner and form following viz:

First: I bequeath to my beloved wife, Louisa DeTurk, all my personal property of whatsoever kind or nature, that may be remaining after payment of my funeral expenses and just debts.

Item: I also give devise and bequeath to her my said wife Louisa DeTurk the use, improvement and income of all my Real Property. Wheresoever the same may be at the time of my death; to have and to hold said Real Property with the appurtenances for and during her natural life; Also giving power and authority to her my said wife, as long as she remains my widow, if necessity requires, for purposes of her maintenance and support or for the repairing and improvement of my said Reality to loan and borrow money on the strength of my reality and mortgage the same for the security of such loan or loans, in as full, large and legal a manner, as I myself could personally do if living.

Item: After the death of my said wife, I hereby authorize the successor of my herein after named Executor, to sell my said Real Property at Public Sale for the highest and best price that can be gotten for the same. And for that purpose, I do hereby authorize and empower my said Executor or survivor of him, to sign, seal, execute and acknowledge, all such deed or deeds of conveyance, as may be requisite and necessary for the granting and assuming the same to the purchasers thereof, in fee simple. And the moneys arising from such sale after deductions of expenses and loans, if any are made thereon, I give and bequeath in five equal shares as follows viz: -

One share to my brother Jeremiah DeTurk his heirs and assigns.

One share to my sister Mary DeTurk her heirs and assigns.

One share to my sister Kate DeTurk her heirs and assigns.

One share to the children of my deceased sister Sarah Stoudt her heirs and assigns.

One share to the children of my deceased sister Hettie Dries her heirs and assigns.

And lastly, I nominate, conscribe and appoint my said wife Louisa DeTurk to be the executrix of this my last Will and Testament.

In Witness whereof, I, Amos M. DeTurk the testator, have to this my will, set my hand and seal this 9th day of July A.D. 1896.
