Last Will and Testament of Adam Hahn

I Adam Haehn of the township of Heidelberg in the County of Berks and Province of Pennsylvania, yeoman, am at present very weak of body but of sound disposing mind memory and understanding Blessed be God. I do this first day of July in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and seventy three make and publish this my Last Will and Testament in manner and form following that is to say.

First of all I Recommend my immortal soul in the hands of God who gave it and my body to be buried on the Earth in a Christian like manner at the direction of my Executors hereinafter named and that my lawful debts & funeral charges shall be paid and so forth.

Imprimus I Give and bequeath to my beloved wife Magdalena Haehn the following articles to be delivered to her by my executors before my personal estate shall be appraised. To wit the (several unreadable objects) brass with one iron pot one frying pan one table two pewter dishes two bassons one dozen pewter plates one dozen pewter spoons and my linen and (???? ??????) five pounds of lawful money of Pennsylvania which will become Due from Phillip Heckert by Bond dated March the first 1770 and payable Marcy the first 1775 one black mare with her colt two cows and two Heufens(?) two (????) one large flax hatchel all which together with what provisions my son John Heahn by certain covenund(?) Conpuited(?) and Contained in Coxtain(?) Intentions which Magdalena have deducted date an or about the eleventh day of October 1770 to him for a certain point of my land. Wherein specified on December (the several sums of money there in mentioned and exempted) and that I (????) of one hundred pound yearly & every year during her life.

And also (Comprised and Contained in a Counter point of the Said intended) [preceding difficult to read] Executor by my said son John Haehn unto me and my said wife Magdalena is obligated to deliver, all the above bequests one and shall be deemed and understood tp be in lieu of her Dower of all my Estate Real and Personal.

Item I give and bequeath to my son John Heahn over and above what I have already as owner him in the sale of my farm. The several (???) real following and now in his possession two wagons, three geldings, one mare, two plows with irons thereto belonging, two iron harrows, seven sheep, the wagon geens(?) and harness, one wagon (???) one link chain, one croup and (????) one (?????) geen(?), two cows, one saddle & bridle and six cow chains.

Item I give and bequeath to my daughter Anna Maria wife of Philip Heckert the sum of twenty five pounds lawful money of Pennsylvania which the same Heckert by bond dated March the first 1770 (Shams born) preceding difficult to read to me and payable March the first 1780. Over and above the (????) I have heretofore or (???) her.

Item I do give devise and bequeath to my daughter Rosina Heahn the following pieces and tracts of land situate on the township of Heidelberg in the County aforesaid one of them containing twenty acres and forty perches of land granted to me by patent from the Honorable the proprietors bearing date December the Sixteenth one thousand seventeen hundred and sixty nine and (???? ???? ????) adjoining William Fischers land (???) own. The other of them situate in the township and county aforesaid adjoining my dwelling plantation which was granted to me by patent from the Honorable the proprietors of the province of Pennsylvania by patent bearing date April the ninth 1763 and now occupied by Conrad Longs and containing forty one acres of land it be the same more or less one other small piece or tract of land adjoining this last mentioned tract, it is part of my dwelling place and Resonen(?) by me, containing five acres and one hundred and three perches of land on the (???? ???) on the 13 day of August 1770 (??) Lain town in the (D????) hereto annexed and signed with my own mark to have and to hold all the above tracts of land to my daughter Rosina Haehn and to her heirs and assigns forever with this condition that when she has (???) to the full age of eighteen years. The said three tracts of land shall be appraised by four honest and Descent men of which my executors on the (???) shall choose two and the (G????) of my said daughter Rosina two and all said four of (??) shall be directed and to my among my children to wit Elizabeth Catharina Anna and the said Rosina Share and share alike.

Item I give and bequeath all the rest and residue of my personal estate (which I have not before and above bequeathed) unto my daughter Elizabeth the wife of Peter Klop and to my daughter Catharine and my daughter Rosina Heahn to be divided to and among them share and share alike and all the rents and profits of the lands bequeathed to my daughter Rosina until she comes to age of eighteen years. Shall be (???) to my personal estate and so made as I hafe (????) to my daughter Elizabeth shall be as is part of the legacy and (????). But if one of my younger children should die in their minority (?? ????) without issue and without will then her or their share shall be divided among all my children share and share alike. Except for my son John Haehn.

And lastly I nominate constitute and appoint my son John Haehn and my loving friend Conner Kirschner of the and county aforesaid to be executors of this my last will and testament, and my son John Haehn is in debt to me in a considerable sum of money for land for to him, I do hereby move pontinilony(?) enjoin him of the exceipts(?) of the (?????ship) that he shall pay or cause to paid all such sums pf money to the legatees above mentioned without any exemption (???) to the (??) John and meaning hereof and I do hereby revoke all former wills by me mad and ratify this to be my Last Will and Testament and no other. In witness where of I have hereunto set my hand and soul July first 1773.

Signed Sealed published and declared but he said Adam Heahn (alias Heun) to be his Last Will and Testament in the presence of us at the above interest of one him and (???) yearly and every year and for & during her life was for want of Rosina mentioned in the end of the first page.

Register Generals Office Reading, Before Esq the subscribing witnesses to the Will contained and written on this the fifth day of October Anno Domini 1773. They personally appeared Peter Fischer and William Reeser solemn Affirmation according to Law did respectfully declare and say that they being German Protestant declaring themselves conscientiously scrupulous of taking the Oath upon their declare this writing contained of this sheet of paper as and for his Last Will and Testament and saw and heard Adam Heahn the Testator therein named sign, with his mark, seal, publish pronounce and their Knowledge and as the verify believe and further that the names of them the (??) of the Doing thereof he the said Testator was of sound mind, memory and understanding to the best of in the presence of each other and in the presence and at the request of the said Will subscribed are of their handwriting respectfully by them subscribed as Witness thereto
