THE PAGODA -- Originally intended to be a hotel, thee failure of the Pagoda's builder to obtain a liquor license destined the mountaintop structure to a less glorious, yet unique fate. Built in 1909, the building was given to the city by Mr. and Mrs. Jonathan Mould in 1911. The Moulds purchased the building from its designer-builder, William A. Witman, Sr. Note Highland House Hotel on distant Neversink Mountain at right.
