A DIVORCE IS ASKED

Mrs. Mamie SCHELL, of Douglassville, has petitioned the Berks County courts, to grant her a divorce from her husband, William SCHELL. The parties were married at Huff's Church in 1896. Shortly afterwards her husband deserted her and enlisted in the army. He is now in the Philippines, and has been there since 1898.

>SALESMAN TAKES UNTO HIMSELF A WIFE

Mrs. Caroline ZIEGLER, of Skippack, was married Thursday to John GERHART, of Bethlehem. Mr. GERHART is a salesman for the wholesale durg house of C.H. Butterworth & Co., Philadelphia. They may reside at Perkasie.

DEATH OF MARLBOROUGH RESIDENT

Henry COPE, a life-long resident of Marlborough township, died on Friday of consumption, aged 66 years. He is survived by his widow and two sons, Augustus, of Sorrel Horse, and Irvin, residing at Hamburg. The funeral was held on Wednesday and the remains were buried at the Old Goshenhoppen church. Rev. C.R. FETTER officiated.

PENNSBURG RESIDENCE SOLD

The handsome home of John S. FREDERICK, of Allentown, situated on Seminary street, this borough, was sold this week to Oliver SCHANTZ, a member of the Eureka Ribbon Company. The property was sold at private figures.

PURCHASED A HOUSE IN EAST GREENVILLE

Mrs. Fianna STEINMAN, of Hereford, purchased the double dwelling house on Jefferson street from Alvin KURTZ. The reported price paid is $3800. She expects to take possession in April.

DEATH OF PETER MENSCH

Peter MENSCH, an aged resident of New Hanover township, residing near Swamp, died on Thursday of last week from general debility and old age. He was 88 years, 4 months and 23 days of age. His wife preceeded him in death by a few years. He is survived by one sister Mrs. Mary GAUMER, of Trexlertown, and one brother Dr. James G. MENSCH, of Pennsburg. The funeral was held on Tuesday. After a short service at the house the cortege proceeded to the Swamp Reformed Church, where service was held by Rev. G.W. ROTH.
