Additional information

NOTE: Levi K MOORE/MOHR was a son of Elias Neukirch MOHR and Mary Bertolet KERST of Union Twp. Levi had a blacksmith and large scale business in Reading. This deed shows sale to Henry EAMES/EMES of his blacksmith shop. In History of Berks Co, M Montgomery, pub 1909, p 191 the following:

'In 1845, Levi K Mohr and Andrew Dehart began manufacturing large scales, establishing a factory on the corner of Cherry and Carpenter streets. Dehart retired in 1850 and Mohr carried on the business until 1872. Different parties occupied the plant in the production of scales with turbine waterwheels and general machinery until 1887, when the 'Reading Scale and Machine Co' was organized by Jacob S PEIPHER, Levi M FRANCIS, and J L BALLOCH, and this company continued their manufacture in connection with engines and boilers.'

Levi M. FRANCIS was a nephew of Levi K. MOHR, and was the son of Levi's sister Harriet KERST MOHR who married Thomas FRANCIS, a contractor in Pottstown.

Henry EAMES aka EMES was Levi's brother-in-law, married to another of Levi's sisters, Hannah KERST MOHR/MOORE, on 11/2/1843.

In 1853, Henry EMES and Hannah sold their home near Neversink Mtn, and went to 1)Bucyrus, Crawford Co, Ohio and then to 2) Marshalltown, Marshall Co Iowa, where they both died and are buried.

Levi K MOHR/MOORE 1822-3/11/1875 is buried in Chas Evans cemetery.

His wife was Ellen R AUCHENBACH. She is buried with him (1820-1/20/1877) with several children of their who died young, and dau Mary Ann MOORE m. John Henry CHEETHAM.
