Charles Sylvester SCHAEFFER, a son of Charles and his wife Sallie Ann, nee DEGLER, was born May 10, 1917, in Jefferson Twp., and was baptized July 29, 1917.

Pearl Elizabeth SHOWERS, a daughter of Paul A. and his wife Katie S., nee KLINE, was born July 30, 1917, at Hyde Park, and was baptized Oct. 21, 1917.

Madison Joseph YARNELL, a son of Joseph and his wife Carrie, nee BASHORE, was born Jan. 4, 1911[may be a typo], at Myerstown, and was baptized Nov. 4, 1917.

John S. CLAY, of Reading, and Miss Mary K. FIDLER, of Rehrersburg, were married Oct. 20, 1917, at Reading, Pa.

Herbert P. REUTSCHLER and Miss Mamie R. HIMMELBERGER, both of Strausstown, Pa., were married at the parsonage, Jan. 10, 1918.

FUNERALS

 

Emmanuel B. FIDLER, a son of Enoch and his wife, Catharine, nee BORKY, was born Aug. 2, 1839, in Heidelberg Twp., and was baptized Mar. 31, 1840, by pastor Hendel.  He was confirmed May 10, 1856, in Corner Church by Paster Jaeger.  On Aug. 10, 1857, he was married to Kity[sp] Ann GRUBER, by P. Finfrock.  He died Sept. 30, 1917, aged 78 years, 1 mo. and 28 days.  He is survived by his widow and daughter.  The funeral took place Oct 4, at Christ Church, Little Tulpehocken.  Text, Col. 3:2.

Alfred B. SCHOCK, a son of Elias and his wife Maria, nee BAGENSTOS, was born Aug. 11, 1849, in Bern Twp., and was baptized Sept. 23, 1849, by Pastor Schmidt.  He was confirmed April 14, 1867, at Bernville by Pastor Steck.  On March 17, 1894, he was married to Miss Amelia HIESTER, by Pastor Trexler.  He died Oct. 13, 1917, aged 68 years, 2 months and 2 days.  He is survived by his widow, a son, a brother and a sister.  The funeral was held at Friedens Church, Shartlesville, Oct. 18.  Text, Col. 3:2.

Cyrus W. MILLER, a son of John and his wife Lovina, nee WINTER, was born Nov. 21, 1864, in Upper Bern Twp., and was baptized Jan. 8, 18665, by Pastor Jaeger.  He was confirmed in St. Michael's Church by Pastor Zweizig.  On July 3, 1886, he was married to Ellen E. HIMMELBERGER by Pastor Zweizig.  He died Oct. 20, 1917, aged 52 years, 10 months and 29 days.  He is survived by his widow and a son, and seven brothers.  The funeral was held in Friedens Church, Shartlesville, Oct. 25.  Text, Acts 13:41.

Howard Herbert HOLLENBACH, an infant son of Herbert J. and his wife Elle, nee EMERICH, was born in Upper Tulpehocken Twp., Oct. 25, 1917, and was baptized Nov. 23, 1917.  He died Nov. 26, 1917, aged 1 month and 1 day.  A brief funeral service was held at the grave Nov. 29. Interment at Zion, Strausstown.  Text, Mk. 10:14.

Henry KNAPP, a son of Noah and his wife Catharine, nee STEINBACH, wa born July 9, 1862, at Bethel, and was baptized Aug. 31, 1862.  He was confirmed March 26, 1880, in Salem Church, by Pastor Trexler.  On Oct. 31, 1885, he was married to Lizzie Martha DECK, by Rev[ok]. Trexler.  He died Dec. 6, 1917, aged 55 years, 4 months and 27 days.  He is survived by his widow and 11 children.  The funeral was held Dec. 11, 1917, in Salem Church, Bethel. Harold Eden STRAUSS, an infant son of Albert W. and his wife Martha B., nee MILLER, was born July 10, 1917, at Strausstown, and was baptized Jan. 8, 1918.  He died Jan. 8, 1918, aged 5 months and 28 days.  The funeral service was held at the house Jan. 12.  Interment at Zion Church, Strausstown.  Text, Job 1:21.

Emma Malinda MEYER, wife of John George MEYER, and a daughter of Michael MILLER and his wife Elizabeth, nee WAGNER, was born April 8, 1848, and was baptized Aug. 13, 1848.  She was confirmed at Zion Church, Strausstown, by Pastor Grimm.  She was married the first time to Levi MILLER, deceased.  On Oct. 29, 1898, she was married the second time to John G. MEYER by Rev. Derr.  She died Feb. 13, 1918, aged 69 years, 10 months and 4 days.  The funeral was held Feb. 18, at Friedens Church.  Text, Heb. 13:14.

Daniel S. KLINE, a son of John and his wife Lovina, nee SCHELL, was born Nov. 5, 1860.  He was received as a member of St. Paul's Church, Tulpehocken, by adult baptism, by Pastor A.J. Long.  He was married Nov. 1, 1884, to Laura STAHLEY by Pastor Trexler.  He died Feb. 23, 1918, aged 57 years, 3 months, 18 days.  He is survived by his widow and twelve children.  The funeral was held Mar. 1, in St. Paul's Church, Tulpehocken.  Text. Eccl. 9:12.

Samuel McALLISTER, a son of Franklin T. and his wife Amelia R., nee MARBURGER, was born Jan. 1, 1889, in Penn Twp., and was baptized Sept. 12, 1890, by Pastor Zweizig.  He was confirmed Oct. 8, 1904, in Christ Church, Little Tulpehocken, by Pastor Long. He died Feb. 28, 1918, aged 29 years, 1 month and 27 days.  He is survived by his parents.  The funeral was held March 5, at Christ Church.  Text, II Cor. 6:2.

Sara HIMMELBERGER, wife of Jefferson HIMMELBERGER, and daughter of Conrad ROEDER, and his wife Catharine, nee SCHAEFFER, was born Aug. 19, 1855, in Wayne Twp., Schuylkill Co., and was baptized Dec. 2, 1855, by Pastor Mayer.  She was married to Jefferson HIMMELBERGER in 1876 by Rev. Kline.  She died Feb. 28, 1918, aged 62 years, 6 months and 8 days.  She is survived by her husband and 8 children.  The funeral was held at the house, March 7. Interment at Zion Church, Strausstown.  Text, Is. 38:1.

Iola Henrietta FEEG, nee ANDERSON, was born June 16, 1866 at Womelsdorf, and baptized Aug. 25, 1866 by Rev. Wolf.  She was confirmed at Womelsdorf, May 6, 1882 by Rev. Steckel.  Her first husband was John HEFFELFINGER.  After his decease she was married Aug. 29, 1903, to Wm. FEEG, by Rev. Long.  She died Mar. 24, 1918 at Robesonia, aged 51 years, 9 months, 8 days.  Her husband, one brother and two sisters survive.  The funeral was held Mar. 28, at Christ Church, Little Tulpehocken.  Text: Ju. 11:26.
