Mildred Elmira YEAGLEY, a daughter of George and his wife Edna, nee TRAUTMAN, was born June 28, 1916, at Myerstown, and was baptized at Tulpehocken, Sept. 24, 1916.

Wayne Stanley HOLLENBACH, a son of Herbert and his wife Ella, nee EMERICH, was born Aug. 13, 1916, in Upper Tulpehocken Twp., and was baptized in Zion Church, Sept. 30, 1916.

Helen Alice HENNE, a daughter of Walter and his wife Minerva, nee HOLLENBACH, was born Sept. 2, 1916, at Mohrsville, and ws baptized at Strausstown, Oct. 1, 1916.

George Washington BAUSHER, a son of Harvey and his wife Sula, nee WAGNER, was born in Upper Tulpehocken Twp., July 24, 1916, and was baptized Oct. 15, 1916.

Rachael Mae MARBURGER, a daughter of Herbert D. and his wife Anna, nee WOLF, was born at Rehrersburg, Nov. 3, 1916, and was baptized in Trinity Church, Dec. 31, 1916.

Leroy STOLTZ, a son of Harvey and his wife Laura, nee MANBECK, was born in Bethel Twp., Feb. 17, 1910[date ok], and was baptized March 19, 1917.

Walter STOLTZ, a son of Harvey and his wife Laura, nee MANBECK, was born in Tulpehocken Twp., Sept. 9, 1914[date ok], and was baptized March 19, 1917.

Willis Calvin FEEG, a son of Ammon C. and his wife Sallie Ann, nee SEIDEL, was born in N. Heidelberg Twp., Feb. 5, 1917, and was baptized April 8, 1917.

Arthur H. OXENRIDER, a son of George C. and his wife Katie M., nee HOLZMAN, was born in N. Heidelberg Twp., Dec. 21, 1916, and was baptized April 8, 1917.

WEDDINGS

 

On Sept. 23, Wallas EMERICH, of Route No. 1, Bethel, and Malinda L. HENNINGER, of the same place, were married at the pasonage, Strausstown.

Elwin M. WERTMAN and Ida S. POTTEIGER, both of Route 3, Bernville, were united in marriage Dec. 23, at the parsonage.

At the parsonage, on the 23rd of December, Charles W. BALTHSER and Beulah BOTTEIGER, both of Strausstown, were united in wedlock.

Leon HARTMAN and Emily SPITLER, both of Route 1, Bethel, Pa., were united in holy wedlock January 27, at the parsonage.

Jacob N. CORL[this may be a typo for Carl] and Katie E. BOND, of Route 1, Bernville, Pa., were married at the parsonage February 3, 1917.

FUNERALS

 

Ida Long HENNE, nee REUTSCHLER, daughter of Albert H. and Esther, nee LONG, and the wife of Charles W. HENNE, was born Dec. 25, 1887, in Upper Bern Twp., and was baptized Jan. 22, 1888, by Pastor Trexler.  She was confirmed Oct. 8, 1904, in Friedens Church by Pastor Trexler.  She married Mr. Henne Aug. 10, 1907, Rev. Trexler officiating.  She died Sept. 26, 1916, aged 28 yrs., 9 mos., and 1 day.  She is survived by her husband, 4 children, her mother and a sister.  The funeral was held Oct. 2, in Friedens Church.  Text, Mt. 7:37.

Catharine Anna STAHL, nee HENNE, widow of Adam STAHL, was born June 28, 1838, in U. Tulpehocken Twp., and was baptized Aug. 26, 1838, by Pastor Menning.  She was confirmed by Rev. Dietzler in Zion Church.  She married Mr. Stahl April 17, 1858, and died Sept. 30, 1916, after one year's illness.  Age 78 yrs., 3 mos., 2 days.  She is survived by 1 son, 8 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.  The funeral took place Oct. 5, in Zion Church.  Text, Gen. 49:18.

Jonathan EYRICH, son of Jacob and his wife Catharine, nee DEGLER, was born Aug. 28, 1835, in Heidelberg Twp.  He was baptized Oct. 7, 1835, by Pastor Mennig.  He was confirmed in his youth and was married Dec. 17, 1853 by Pastor Miesse to Rebecca SCHMIDT.  There were 11 children.  He died Oct. 9, 1916, aged 81 yrs., 1 mo., 11 days.  He is survived by 3 daughters.  The funeral took place Oct. 12, 1916, in Christ Church.  Text, Gen. 49:18.

Henry REUTSCHLER, a son of Wilhelm and his wife Elizabeth, nee KAUFMAN was born Nov. 8, 1835, in U. Bern Twp.  He was baptized Jan. 3, 1836, by Pastor Schultz.  He was confirmed at St. Michales by Pastor Schmidt.  He was Married July 4, 1859 to Ann Eliza WOLF.  He died Oct. 22, 1916.  Age 80 yrs., 11 mos., 14 days.  He is survived by his widow, 3 children, 1 brother and 1 sister.  The funeral took place Oct. 28, in Friedens Church.  Text, Is. 18:4.

Wilson Strauss KEENER, a son of John D. and his wife Mary, nee STRAUSS, was born Nov. 21, 1856 at Strausstown.  He was baptized Jan. 13, 1859, by Pastor Dietzler.  He was confirmed April 21, 1873, by Pastor Finfrock, at Zion Church.  He was married Nov. 2, 1878, by Pastor Dietzler, to Sarah Ann HENNE.  He died Oct. 24, 1916.  Age, 59 yrs., 11 mos., 3 days.  He is survived by his widow and son and a brother.  The funeral took place Oct. 30 in Zion Church.  Text. Catharine HERBEIN, widow of Dr. Isaac C. HERBEIN, and daughter of Jocob BATTEIGER and his wife Charlotte, nee GUTHMAN, was born Jan. 12, 1834, in U. Tulpehocken Twp., and was baptized June 15, 1834, by Pastor Minnich.  She was confirmed by the same pastor in Zion Church.  She was married May 26, 1863, by Rev. Meise to Dr. Herbein.  She died Nov. 5, 1916, aged 82 yrs., 9 mos., 23 days.  She is survived by her son, Dr. O.B. HERBEIN.  The funeral took place Nov. 9 in Zion Church.  Text, Gen. 25:8.

John D. RENTZ, a son of John and his wife Catharine, nee DEGLER, was born Aug. 30, 1845, in Cambridge, Mass.  He was baptized in infancy and confirmed in St. Michael's Church.  He was married in 1867 to Ellen M. MENGEL by Pastor Finfrock.  He was a soldier in the late civil war [no caps], a private in the 96th Regiment, Co. G. Pa. Volunteers, in which he served 3 yrs., 9 mos.  He died Nov. 17, 1916.  Age 71 yrs., 2 mos., 17 days.  The funeral took place Nov. 21.  Text, Ps. 119:50

John H. OXENRIDER, a son of Moses and his wife Catharine, nee DUNKELBERGER, was born July 27, 1861, at Rehrersburg.  He was baptized Oct. 10, 1861, by Pastor Grimm.  He was confirmed by Pastor Trexler in Trinity Church.  He was married Sept. 4, 1880 to Elimine KLINE by Rev. Trexler.  He died Dec. 21, 1916.  Age, 56 yrs., 4 mos., 24 days.  The funeral took place Dec. 26 in Friedens Church, Myerstown.  He is survived by his widow and 3 children.  Text, Jno. 3:16.

Valentine Z. MOHN, a son of Peter and his wife Elizabeth, nee ZIMMERMAN, was born April 25, 1869 in U. Bern Twp.  He was baptized June 24, 1869 by Pastor Thomas Yeager.  He was confirmed by Pastor Trexler March 29, 1877.  He was married to Clara PLEISS.  He died Jan. 3, 1917, ager[sp] 56 yrs., 6 mos., 8 days.  The funeral took place Jan. 7.  Text, Jno. 16:16.  He is survived by one son.

Maria HIESTER, nee DEGLER, widow of Moses HIESTER, and the daughter of George and his wife, Elizabeth, nee ZERBER, was born Oct. 10, 1830, in U. Tulpehocken Tpw.  She was baptized Dec. 12, 1830, by Pastor Mennig.  She was confirmed in 1845 in Zion Church by Pastor Mennig.  She was married to Mr. Hiester May 26, 1855, by pastor Zehring.  She died Jan. 18, 1917 aged 86 yrs., 3 mos., 8 days.  She is survived by 4 sons and 1 sister.  The funeral took place Jan. 26, in Zion Church.  Text, Ps. 39:13.

Henry Willoughby LONG, son of Joel and his wife Sarah, nee ZETTLEMOYER, was born April 30, 1866, and was baptized July 8, 1866 by Pastor Zweizig.  He was confirmed March 26, 1881, in Frieden's Church, by Pastor Trexler.  He was a normal school graduate and a school teacher for 24 years.  He died January 23, 1917.  Age 50 yrs., 8 mos., 23 days.  He is survived by 3 brothers and 4 sisters.  The funeral took place in Friedens Church Jan. 27.  Text, Rom. 8:18.

Oscar William EPLER, a son of Charles L. and his wife Katie M., nee LUCKENBILL, was born Nov. 30, 1895, in U. Bern Twp.  He was baptized Jan. 15, 1896, by Rev. Hiester.  He was confirmed Oct. 21, 1911, by Pastor Pflueger in Zion Church.  He was married to Ellie CHRISTMAS June 26, 1915, by Pastor Klick.  He died Jan. 30, 1917, aged 21 yrs., 2 mos.  He is survived by his widow, parents, a brother and a sister.  The funeral took place Feb. 3.  Text, Is. 55:8, 9.

Catharine Anna NAGLE, nee REUTSCHLER, daughter of Simon and his wife Elizabeth, nee STOUDT, was born Oct. 13, 1847, in U. Bern Twp., and was baptized Dec. 19, 1847, by Pastor Schmidt.  She was confirmed in St. Michael's Church by pastor Yeager in 1864.  She was married to Wm. H. NAGLE Oct. 31, 1874, by Pastor Leinbach.  She died Feb. 2, 1917, aged 69 yrs., 3 mos., 19 days.  She is survived by her husband and 6 children.  The funeral took place Feb. 7 in Friedens Church.  Text, I Chron. 29:15.

Michael BECKEY, a son of John and his wife Sabine, nee MEIER, was bofn March 14, 1848, and was baptized Jan. 9, 1849, by Pastor Mennig.  He was confirmed in Trinity Church by Pastor Trexler.  He was married to Sarah D. AULENBACH Feb. 6, 1878.  He died Jan. 15, 1917, aged 68 yrs., 10 mos. 1 day.  He is survived by an only son, 3 brothers and 1 sister.  The funeral took place Jan. 20 at his home at Myerstown.  Text, Jno. 16:15.

Allen M. KANTNER, a son of George B. and his wife Emma, nee NOLL, was born Jan. 23, 1887, at Rehrersburg, and was baptized Aug. 27 of the same year, by the Rev. Stamaugh.  He was confirmed Oct. 31, 1903, in Trinity Church by Pastor Trexler.  He died Feb. 7, 1917, at Reading, aged 30 yrs., 14 days.  He is survived by his father, 6 brothers and 2 sisters.  The funeral took place Feb. 12, in Trinity Church.  Text, Job. 14: 1-2.

Henry STEINBACH, a son of Samuel and his wife Catharine, nee HILBISH, was born April 24, 1845, in Manheim Twp., Schuylkill Co., and was baptized Aug. 17, 1845 by Pastor Hessinger.  He was confirmed April 12, 1862, in Salem Church by Dr. Grahn.  He was married to Emeline KREMER, Nov. 4, 1869, at Port Clinton by Rev. Frame.  He died Feb. 16, 1917, aged 71 yrs. 9 mos., 22 days.  He is survived by his widow, son and 2 daughters.  The funeral took place Feb. 22 in Salem Church.  Text, II Tim. 4:7-8.

Thomas STOLTZ, a son of Harvey and his wife laura, nee MANBECK, was born Dec. 7, 1915, and died March 14, 1917.  Age, 1 yr., 3 mos., 8 days.  The funeral took place March 18 from the parents' home and interment at Christ Church.  Text. Jer. 29:11.
