FUNERALS

Anna, wife of James L. HOLLENBACH and daughter of Henry and Lovina LONG born June 21, 1873, she was united in marrige to James L. HOLLENBACH in 1894.  Her end came on Mar. 2, 1928 in Stouchsburg, Pa.  She attained the age of 54 years 8 months and 11 days.  She is survived by her husband; and the following children: Mrs. Cora NYE, Mrs. Beulah RISSMILLER, Oscar H. LONG, Mrs. Alma DUNKEL, Solomon LONG, Lovina LONG, Esther and Howard at home; also 10 grandchildren and three brothers; John, Frank and Harry.  The funeral was held Mar. 6, services in the home and Zion Chruch, Strausstown where burial took place.  Text, John 11:25.

Jacob H. WEIBEL son of the late Jacob WEIBEL and wife Lucy, nee HACKMAN, born Apr. 7, 1851, U. Tulpehocken Twp., Berks Co., was baptized Nov. 2, 1851.  He was confirmed Apr. 24, 1875 by Rev. Aaron Finfrock in Zion Church, Strausstown.  He was married to Rebecca STRAUSS on July 1, 1876 by Rev. Finfrock, and this union was blessed with 5 sons and 2 survive.  His wife died June 22, 1889.  Later he married Rebecca BERGER who preceded him in death.  He died Saturday, March 3, 1928, Collinswood, N.J. at his son’s home at the age of 76 years, 10 months and 26 days.  His survivors are 2 sons, 3 grandchildren, 2 brothers and 3 sisters.  He was buried March 7, 1928 services at the house and in Zion Church, Strausstown, and burial in the adjoining cemetery.  Text, John 14:2c.

Mrs. Sarah M. WAGNER wife of Aug. WAGNER, nee RITZMAN, born Dec. 3, 1848 U. Tulpehocken Township, Berks Co., was baptized Feb. 11, 1849 by Rev. Hassinger.  She was confirmed in Zion Church, Strausstown.  In 1868 she was married to Aug. WAGNER.  She died Fri., Mar. 16, 1928, Topton, Pa., at the home of a daughter Mrs. Sallie SPANGLER, at an age of 79 years, 3 months and 13 days. She is survived by 9 children as follows:  Eva, Rosie, Maggie, Harry, Abraham, Joseph, Lizzie, Sallie, Suela, Also 53 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren, also one sister and one brother.  The funeral was held Mar. 20, 1928 services in the home of a son Harry and Frieden’s Church, were interment took place.  Text, John 16:22.

Mrs. Amos S. BERGER, Maggie L. nee MOYER was born nov. 4, 1876, Womelsdorf, Pa.  She was baptized in infancy and confirmed at the proper age in Christ, Little Tulpehocken Church.  Married Amos S. BERGER Oct. 29, 1896.  She died on Wednesday, Mar. 28, 1928 in her late home near Bernville at an age of 51 years 4 months and 24 days.  She is survived by her husband, two daughters, and one grandson.  Her funeral was held Apr. 2 with services at the home and in Frieden’s Chruch, Bernville, where she was buried.  Text, John 14:18.

James Hiram REBER son of the late Jeremiah REBER and his wife Ellamina, nee WAGNER, born Oct. 3, 1861, U. Tulpehocken Township, Berks Co., and baptized Nov. 10, 1861, by Rev. Grim.  He was confirmed Apr. 21, 1877 in Zion Church, Strausstown by Rev. Aaron Finfrock.  Married Caroline S. LONG Sept. 12, 1885 by Rev. L.D. Stambaugh.  He died Mon. Apr. 9, 1928 in his late home, Strausstown, at an age of 66 years 6 months and 6 days: being survived by his wife, one son, Charles and one daughter Amy, also 10 grand-children and 2 sisters.  The funeral was held Apr. 13, services in his home and Zion Church, Strausstown, and burial in the adjoining graveyard.  Text:  Matt. 10:22b.

Telilah CLEMENS wife of Jacob P. ZELLER, and daughter of Joseph CLEMENS and Carolina WUMMER born Apr. 29, 1852, Bethel Township, Berks Co., was baptized Aug. 1852 by Rev. Thomas Jaeger, and confirmed in Salem Church, Bethel, By Rev. Graun.  June 28, 1868 she married Jacob P. ZELLER by Rev. Chas. Leinbach.  She died Mon. Apr. 16, 1928 in her late home at an age of 75 years, 11 months and 17 days and is survived by loving husband, 4 sons and 2 daughters, also 18 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.  She was buried Apr. 20, 1928 with services in their home and Salem Church, burial in the adjoining cemetery.  Text Lk. 7:50.

Masitta MILLER daughter of the late Henry MILLER and wife Mina nee REBER, wife of the late Francis Jacob GRAEFF born Nov. 6, 1841, U. Tulpehocken Twp., Berks Co., was baptized Feb. 6, 1842 by Rev. Menning.  She was confirmed at the proper age and married Francis Jacob GRAEFF about 62 years ago.  She died Sat. April 21, 1928 in her late home, at an age of 86 years, 5 months and 15 days.  She is survived by four sons and one daughter, 30 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.  She was buried Apr. 25.  Service at the home and Zion Church, Strausstown where interment took place.  Text: Philippians, 1:6.

Louisa Elizabeth SCHAEFFER wife of the late Adam Paul OXENRIDER and daughter of the late Jonathan E. SCHAEFFER and wife Rebecca K., nee SMITH, born Sept. 10, 1852, U. Tulpehocken Twp., Berks Co., was baptized Nov. 28, 1853 by Rev. Eggers, D.D. and confirmed May 8, 1869 by Rev. Aaron Finfrock.  She was married to Adam Paul OXENREIDER, May 28, 1881, by Rev. A. Johnson Long.  She died May 23, 1928 at the home of her son Clayton in Reading attaining the age of 75 years, 8 months and 13 days.Her survivors are 4 sons, one daughter, and 13 grandchildren.  The funeral took place on May 28, services in the home and Christ, L. Tulpehocken Church where interment was made.  Text, Ps. 23:4.

Oscar Samuel SWOYER son of Jacob S. SWOYER and wife Louisa DEISHER born May 26, 1881, Maxatawny Twp., Berks Co., was baptized Aug. 7, 1881 by Rev. J.J. Cressman.  On Nov. 7, 1896 he was confirmed by Rev. J.J. Cressman in St. John’s Church, Kutztown.  He married Katie E. WINK Mar. 31, 1906 by Rev. Cressman.  He died Wed. June 6, 1928 at their late home U. Tulpehocken Twp., Berks Co., at the age of 47 years and 10 days and was survived by his wife, 3 sons, 4 daughters, his mother, 4 sisters and 4 brothers. His burial took place June 11, services in his mother’s home and St. John’s Church, Kutztown, and burial in the adjoining graveyard. [no text given]

Charles Franklin STOYER son of Daniel and Lucy Ann (MILLER) STOYER, born Nov. 24, 1867 U. Bern Twp., Berks Co., was baptized May 5, 1867 by Rev. B.D. Zweizig and confirmed in St. Michael’s Church on May  6, 1882.He married Sallie H. TOBIAS Nov. 28, 1891 by Rev. Z.H. Gable.  He died July 1, 1928, in the home of his son 1052 N. 5th St., Reading at an age of 60 yrs., 7 months and 7 days.  He is survived by two sons and 2 daughters.  The funeral was held July 5, in the home and Frieden’s Church Shartlesville and burial in the adjoining cemetery. Solomon M. SCHREFFER son of the late Solomon W. SCHREFFER and wife Catharine nee MILLER, born Dec. 8, 1851 Bethel Twp., Berks Co., was baptized Mar. 4, 1852 by Rev. Thomas H. Leinbach and confirmed May 5, 1866 in Salem Church, Bethel, by Rev. H. Grahn.  On Nov. 27, 1875 he married Marie DECK by Rev. D.D. Trexler.  He died July 19, 1928 in their late home at an age of 76 years, 7 months and 11 days, and is survived by his wife, 1 son, 2 daughters, 3 sisters, also 6 grandchildren.  He was buried July 22, with services in their home and Salem Church where interment took place.  Text:  Phillippians 1:23.

Charles Franklin SCHOCK son of the late Elias and Maria BAGENSTOSE, SCHOCK born Jan. 27, 1846 U. Bern Twp., Berks [info on baptism missed being copied to page.  Child was apparently baptized by Rev. Schmidt as notice continues]  Schmidt and was confirmed Apr. 18, 1863 in Bernville by Rev. H. Grahn.  He was married to Emma MENGEL, Jan. 29, 1876, and to Mrs. Emeline BLAUSER Nov. 21, 1896 by Rev. D.D. Trexler.  He died Sat. July 28, 1928 in his late home, Shartlesville at the age of 82 years, 6 months and 1 day, and was survived by one son. one daughter, 2 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild and 1 half-sister.  His funeral was held July 31, with services in the home and Frieden’s Church were burial was made.  Text: Mk. 13:33.

Annie Louisa MENGEL widow of Elias KAYSER and daughter of Geo. and Fietta (MOYER) MENGEL born Jan. 14, 1872 U. Bern Twp., Berks Co., was baptized Jan. 25, 1872 by Rev. F.P. Mayser; was baptized [confirmed?] in Frieden’s Church, Sharatelsville, Mar. 19, 1887 by Rev. D.D. Trexler.  Married Elias G. KAYSER May 19, 1888 by Rev. A. Finfrock.  She died July 29, 1928 in Robesonia at the home of her daughter Mrs. Chas. MENTZER at an age of 56 years, 6 months and 15 days.  She was survived by two sons and two daughters, five sisters and one brother.  Her funeral took place Aug. 2, 1928 with all services in the house and burial in Zion Church Cemetery, Strausstown.  Text:  John, 14:1-3.

Sarah daughter of Isaac and Susannah (SMITH) WAGNER and wife of Aaron MOGEL, born Aug. 4, 1846, Jefferson Twp., Berks Co., and was baptized Aug. 30, 1846 by Rev. Hassinger, and was confirmed in her 19th year.  She was united in marriage to Aaron MOGEL in 1870.  She died on Tuesday Aug. 7, 1928 in Rehrersburg at the age of 82 years, and 3 days, and was survived by her husband, three sons and one daughter, also one sister and one brother.  She was buried Aug. 11 with services in the home and Trinity Church, Rehrersburg and interment in the adjoining grave yard.  Text:  Matt. 11:28.

Isabella daughter of Bennewell and Miria (KAUPP) DEGLER and wife of Samuel R. EBLING, born Nov. 8, 1858, U. Bern Twp., Berks Co., was baptized Mar. 27, 1859 by Rev. Jacob Zehring.  She was confirmed Mar. 25, 1875 in Frieden’s Church, Shartlesville, by Rev. D.D. Trexler and married to Samuel R. EBLING on June 3, 1911, by Rev. D.D. Trexler.  She died on Sat. Aug. 11, 1928 in their late home at an age of 69 years 9 months and 3 days and was survived by her husband and five foster children.  Her funeral was held Aug. 16, with services in the home and Zions[typo] Church, Strausstown, where burial took place.

Emmaleina LENGEL daughter of the late David LENGEL and wife Margaret HENNE, born Apr. 23, 1853, U. Tulpehocken Twp., Berks Co., was baptized July 21, 1853.  She was confirmed in Zion, Blue Mountain Church, Strausstown.  On Fri. Sept. 14, 1928 she departed this life in Strausstown, at an ageof 75 years, 4 months and 21 days, her son Chas. EPLER died five years ago.  She is survived by two brothers, two grandchildren and one great grandchild.  She was buried Sept. 18 with services in the home and Zion Church, Strausstown, and burial in the adjoining cemetery.  Text: Ps. 71:9.

Charles S. SPEICHER son of the late Cyrus SPEICHER and wife May Ann(SMITH) born June 23, 1875, N. Heidelberg Twp., Berks Co., was baptized Aug. 28, 1875 by Rev. D.D. Trexler, and confirmed Oct. 25, 1890 by Rev. A. Johnson Long.  He married Eva S. DRUPP, May 20, 1899 by Rev. A. Johnson Long.  He died Mon., Oct. 1, 1928 in the Homeopathic Hospital, Reading at the age of 53 yrs., 3 mos. and 8 days, and is survived by his wife, 3 daughters, 1 son; also 1 step-sister.  He was buried Oct. 4, with services in the home and Christ, L. Tulpehocken Church, and burial there in the grave yard.  Text;  Amos. 4:12.

Mrs. Adam H. STRAUSS daughter of the late Samuel and Ellemina HENNE, born Apr. 9, 1864 Jefferson Twp., Berks Co., was baptized June 19, 1864 by Rev. J.M. Grim.  She was confirmed Apr. 17, 1881 in Zion Church, Strausstown by Rev. Aaron Finfrock, and united in marriage to Adam H. STRAUSS, July 5, 1884 by Rev. Aaron Finfrock.  She died on Tues. Oct. 23, 1928 in their late home at the age of 64 years, 6 months and 14 days, and is survived by her husband two sons, two daughters, two brothers and twelve grand children.  On Oct. 28, she was buried with services in the home and Zion Church, Strausstown, and burial in the adjoining cemetery.  Text:  Heb., 4:9.

Mrs. Mary Ann FEICK, widow of Jefferson FEICK, daughter of Michael FEICK[typo?] and wife Rebecca nee BATTEICHER, born June 24, 1848 U. Tulpehocken Twp., Berks Co., was baptized Jan. 1, 1849, and confirmed in Zion Church, Strausstown [no dates].  She was united in marriage to Jefferson FEICK Mar. 20, 1869 by Rev. Aaron Finfrock.  On Nov. 15, 1928 she died at the home of her son, Frank, Hamburg, Pa., at the age of 80 yrs. 4 months, and 21 days and is survived by 1 son, 2 daughters also 10 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren.  She was buried Nov. 17, with services in the home and Zion Church, Strausstown, and burial in the adjoining cemetery. Mrs. Amelia KEENER, daughter of the late Joseph WERTZ and wife Elizabeth RITZMAN, born Mar. 19, 1857, Jefferson Twp., Berks Co., was baptized May 6, 1857 by Rev. Jas. Eggers and confirmed in Zion Church, Strausstown by Rev. Aaron Finfrock on Apr. 24, 1875.  She married Jefferson KEENER Oct. 24, 1877, by Rev. J.E. Hiester.  She died Sat., Dec. 8, 1828 in Tulpehocken, Pa., at the age of 71 years, 8 months and 19 days and is survived by 2 sons and 1 daughter also 9 grandchildren.  She was buried Dec. 14, with services in her daughters home and Zion Church, Strausstown, where interment took place.  Text:  Ps. 16:11.

Albert W. SHUBART, son of the late Augustus and Mary (WALBORN) SHUBART, born Aug. 18, 1850 Bethel Twp., Berks Co., was baptized in infancy and confirmed in Salem Church, Bethel, Pa.[no dates]. He married Susanna CHRIST on Feb. 1, 1873 by Rev. D.D. Trexler.  He died Fri., Jan. 18th, 1929, in Rehrersburg at the age of 78 years, 5 months, and was buried Jan 24, with services in the home and Trinity Church, Rehrersburg, and is survived by one sone and one brotther.  He was laid to rest in Trinity Church Cemetery.  Text: Jno. 11:28.

Monore KRAMER son of the late Isaac and Lydia (NEY) KRAMER, born Apr. 24, 1882 U. Tulpehocken Twp., Berks Co., was baptized Oct. 4, 1890 by Rev. Finfrock and confirmed in Zion Church, Strausstown by Rev. Ira W. Klick [no date].  He was united in marriage to Carrie Ellen SAUL [no date].  He died Mon. Jan. 21, 1929 at their late home at the age of 46 yrs., 8 mos. and 21 days, and is survived by 2 daughters, his mother, 2 sisters, and 1 brother.  He was buried Jan. 25 with services in the home and Zion Church, Strausstown, where burial took place.  Text, John 11:28.

Emma WENRICH, wife of Albert W. GAUL and daughter of Isaac H. WENRICH and wife Rebecca SCHARF, born Feb. 10, 1851, Marion Twp., Berks Co., was baptized May 6, 1851 by Rev. Daniel Ulrich, and confirmed in Frieden’s Church, Bernville [no date].  She married Albert W. GAUL in 1922.  She died Mon. Jan. 23, 1929 in their late home near Robesonia at the age of 77 years. 11 months, and 18 days and is survived by her husband and one sister Mrs. Levi SCHARF.  She was buried Feb. 1, with services in their home and Frieden’s Church, Bernville and interment in the cemetery there.  Text:  Ps. 23:1.

Edwin HIMMELBERGER son of the late Jefferson and Sarah (RADER) HIMMELBERGER, born Jan. 27, 1875, Wayne Twp., Schu. Co., Pa., was baptized by Rev. D.D. Trexler [no date] and confirmed Mar. 30, 1893 in Shartlesville by Rev. D.D. Trexler.  He was united in marriage to Sallie FICK Oct. 26, 1895.  He died Ftb [typo] 4, 1929, Reading at the age of 54 years and 7 days, and is survived by his wife, 4 daughters and 3 sons.  His funeral was held Feb. 9, with services in the home of his son John, Reading, and interment in Zion Church Cemetery, Strausstown.  Text: Amos, 4:12.
