FUNERALS

Hannah Susan SHERMAN, daughter of Edwin SHERMAN and his wife Alice, nee [unreadable--could be “Price“], was born Dec. 2, 1905 at Host, Pa., and was baptized April 29, 1906 by Rev. Butz.  She was confirmed Oct. 4, 1919 in Salem church by Rev. Klick.  She died on Good Friday April 2, 1926, aged 20 years, 4 months.  She is survived by her parents, 5 sisters, 4 brothers.  The funeral was held in Salem church, April 8.  Text, Rom. 8:28.

Mrs. Henrietta Louisa BROWN, nee SCHUBERT, daughter of August SCHUBERT and his wife Elizabeth, nee WALBORN, was born Oct. 2, 1853 in Bethel township and was baptized in infancy by Rev. T.T. Jaeger.  She was confirmed in Salem church By Rev. Steck.  She was married to Nathan BROWN in Dec. 1874 by Rev. C.H. Leinbach.  She died March 31, 1926, aged 72 years, 5 months, 29 days.  She is survived by her husband, 2 brothers.  The funeral was held at the house on Easter, April 4.  Interment was made at Trinity cemetery, Rehrersburg.  I Cor. 15:54-57.

Jefferson F. RENTSCHLER, son of William RENTSCHLER and his wife Mary Ann, nee NAGLE, was born April 20, 1853 in Upper Bern township, and was baptized June 26, 1853 by Rev. Smith.  He was confirmed in St. Michael’s church March 28, 1868 by Rev. Zweizig.  He was married to Matilda STUODT[typo] May 30, 1885 by Rev. Zweizig.   He died April 14, 1926, aged 72 years, 11 months, 24 days.  He is survived by his widow, 3 daughters, 2 grandchildren, and 2 brothers.  The funeral was held in Friedens church April 19.  I Pet. 5:6.

John David McALLISTER, son of David McALLISTER and his wife Amelia, nee DEGLER, was born Feb. 3, 1888 in Tulpehocken township, and was baptized Feb. 18, 1888 by Refft[typo] Finfrock.  He died April 15, 1926, aged 38 years, 2 months, 12 days.  He is survived by his father and a sister.  The funeral was held with that of his step-mother April 20 in Zion church.  Heb. 4:9.

Mrs. Amelia McALLISTER, nee KEYSER, daughter of William KEYSER and his wife Elizabeth, nee GERHARD, was born Feb. 23, 1851 in Richmond township and was baptized in the same year by Rev. Roeller.  She was confirmed Mar. 26, 1869 in St. Peter’s church by Rev. Wicklein.  She was married to David McALLISTER Dec. 13, 1888 by Rev. Finfrock.  She died April 15, 1926, aged 75 years, 1 month, 23 days.  She is survived by her husband, 1 daughter, 7 grandchildren, 3 brothers and 2 sisters.  The funeral was held with that of her step-son, April 20 in Zion church.  Heb. 4:9.

Mrs. Elnora BOLTZ, nee HAAG, daughter of Percivil M. HAAG and his wife Emma, nee LEITNER, was born March 2, 1876 in Bethel township and was baptized April 23, 1876 by Rev. Finfrock.  She was confirmed in Zion church by Rev. Finfrock.  She was married the first time to Oliver HIX whith whom she has one son.  She was married the second time to Simon C. BOLTZ, July 15, 1905 by Rev. O.E. Pflueger, with whom she has one son and a daughter.  She died April 19, 1926, aged 50 years, 1 month, 17 days.  She is survived by her husband, 2 sons, 1 daughter, 1 grand-child and 3 brothers.  The funeral was held April 23 in Zion church.  Is. 28:29.

Mrs. Hannah M. NEY, nee SHERMAN, daughter of Aaron SHERMAN and his wife, Hannah, nee NEISWENDER, was born Nov. 25, 1868 in Pine Grove township, Schuylkill Co., and was baptized and confirmed Nov. 14, 1903 at Host by Rev. O.E. Pflueger.  She was married to Jacob NEW[typo] Sept., 5, 1885 by Rev. John Hartzler.  She died April 28, 1926, aged 57 years, 5 months, 3 days.  She is survived by her husband, 2 daughters, 2 sons, 1 brother and 8 grand-children.  The funeral was held at her home at Myerstown, interment at Mt. Hope cemetery.  Is. 28:29.

Beulah Macinda SCHLASEMAN, daughter of William H. SCHLASEMAN and his wife, Eva K., nee REBER, was born Dec. 8, 1925 in Upper Bern township and was baptized May 2, 1925 by Rev. Klick.  She died May 19, 1926, aged 5 months, 11 days.  Interment was made in Zion cemetery May 20.  Jer. 31:3.

Mrs. Elmira Mary Ann MILLER, nee HIMMELBERGER, a daughter of Wilson HIMMELBERGER and his wife Rebecca A., nee WANN, was born October 19, 1864 in Center township and was baptized November 27, 1864 by Rev. Schwartz.  She was confirmed at Belleman’s church May 14, 1898 by Rev. Zweizig.  She was married to Cyrus W. MILLER July 3, 1886 by Rev. Zweizig.  She died May 21, 1926, aged 62 years, 7 months, 2 days.  She is survived by a son, 3 grandchildren, 5 sisters and 1 great-grandchild.  The funeral took place May 25, in Friedens church.  Rom. 6:23.

Mrs. Lizzie M. HETTINGER, nee FORRY, daughter of Harry FORRY and his wife Amelia, nee KELLER, was born May 23, 1904 near Richland and was baptized Oct. 16, 1904 by Rev. Welker.  She was confirmed Nov. 20, 1920 in Trinity church, Rehrersburg by Rev. E.S. Leinbach.  She was married to John W. HETTINGER, Apr. 19, 1924 by Rev. Klick.  She died June 17, 1926 at Shoemakersville, aged 22 years, 24 days.  She is survived by her husband, daughter, Parents, 2 brothers and 1 sister.  The funeral was held June 22 in Tulpehocken Reformed church, Jer. 15:9.

Franklin H. WAGNER, son of Samuel WAGNER and his wife, Esther, nee HENNE was born Feb. 21, 1839 in Bern township and was baptized April 7, 1839 by Rev. Harpel.  He was confirmed in St. Michael’s church by Rev. Schmidt.  He was married the first time to Matilda ALTHOUSE Sept. 12, 1863, by Rev. T.T. Jaeger.  On June 11, 1898 he was married to Emma R. HENNE by Rev. Trexler.  He died June 19, 1926, aged 87 years, 3 months, 28 days.  He is survived by his widow, daughter, 2 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild.  He was a Civil War veteran.  The funeral was held June 24 in Friedens church.  II Tim. 4:7-8.

Lewis M. WEBBER, son of Samuel WEBBER and his wife Polley, nee MILLER, was born Jan 22, 1844 in Tulpehocken township and was baptized in infancy.  He was confirmed in Zion church, Struasstown[typo].  He was married to Agnes MILLER by Rev. Thomas Leinbach.  He died July 20, 1926, aged 82 years, 6 months, 8 days.  He is survived by a son, 4 daughters, 6 grandchildren and 2 brothers.  The funeral was held Aug. 3 in Trinity church.  Job. 5:26.

Henry D. HEISTER, a son of Benjamin HIESTER and his wife Catharine nee DEGLER, was born Feb. 23, 1862 in Tulpehocken township and was baptized May 22, 1862 by Rev. Zehring.  He was confirmed Mar. 31, 1877 in Zion church by Rev. Leinbach.  He was married to Annie E. GREIM by Rev. Leinbach.  He died Aug. 3, 1926, aged 64 years, 5 months, 11 days.  He is survived by a son, 5 daughters, 5 grandchildren and one brother.  The funeral was held Aug. 7 in Zion church. Ps. 103:13-14.

Adam B. DEGLER, son of John DEGLER and his wife Elizabeth, nee BAESHORE, was born Mar. 17, 1856, in Upper Tulpehocken township and was received in membership at Friedens church by Adult Baptism by Rev. Trexler.  He was married to Elizabeth SPATS march 22, 1890 by Rev. Appel.  He died Aug. 17, 1926, aged 70 years, 5 months.  He is survived by his widow, 3 sons, 1 daughter, 7 grandchildren, 1 brother and 1 sister.  The funeral was held at Friedens church Aug. 21.  Rev. 2:10.

Emma E. PEIFFER, daughter of Reuben E. PEIFFER and his wife Catharine nee STUMP, was born Aug. 11, 1868 at Rehrersburg, and was baptized by Rev. Trexler.  She was confirmed March 2, 1885 in Trinity church by Rev. Stambaugh.  She died Aug. 20, 1926, aged 58 years, 9 days.  She is survived by 1 sister.  The funeral was held on Aug. 25, in Trinity church.  Mt. 25:27.

Samuel M. WEBBER, son of Samuel WEBBER and his wife Maria, nee MILLER, was born April 16, 1840 in Tulpehocken township and was baptized in infancy.  He was confirmed in Trinity church by Rev. Jaeger.  He was married June 8, 1862 to Mary Ann STRAUSS by Rev. Grim.  He died Sept. 1, 1926, aged 86 years, 1 month, 25 days.  He is survived by 3 sons, 5 daughters, 15 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and 1 brother.  The funeral was held Sept. 6, in Trinity church.  Gen. 25:8.

Aaron F. HENNE son of Jared HENNE and his wife Sarah Ann, nee FOX, was born Dec. 4, 1853 in Tulpehocken townhip and was baptized Feb. 12, 1854 by Rev. Schmidt.  He was confirmed March 27, 1869 in Frieden’s church, Bernville by Rev. Trexler.  He was married to Hannah RITZMAN Dec. 25, 1887 by Rev. Finfrock.  He died Sept. 9, 1926, aged 72 years, 8 months, 5 days.  He is survived by his widow, 2 sons, 3 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild and 2 sisters.  The funeral was held Sept. 14 in Zion church.  Is. 61:10.

Mrs. Sarah M. SPENGLER, nee HIESTER, daughter of Joseph HIESTER and his wife, Maria nee MILLER, was born Aug. 13, 1850 in Bethel township and was baptized by Rev. Hassinger Sept. 22, 1850.  She was confirmed April 3, 1869 in Zion church by Rev. Finfrock.  She was married to Peter F. SPENGLER April 11, 1874 by Rev. T.C. Leinbach.  She died Sept. 22, 1926 at Intervilla, aged 76 years, 1 month, 9 days.  She is survived by her husband, daughter, 3 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren and 1 sister.  The funeral was held Sept. 27 at Zion church.  Is. 61:10.

Mrs. Lovina PEARSON, nee FISHER, daughter of Henry FISHER and his wife Nancy Ann nee STUTZMAN, was born Feb. 9, 1845 in Jackson township, Lebanon Co., and was baptized May 17, 1845 by Rev. Ulrich.  She was confirmed April 20, 1861 in Friedens, Bernville, by Rev. Grahn.  She was married to Benj. L. PEARSON Sept. 15, 1866 by Rev. Roeller.  She died Sept. 29, 1926, aged 81 years, 7 months, 20 days.  She is survived by 1 daughter.  The funeral was held Oct. 5 in Friedens church.  Is. 61:10.

John F. STAHL, son of Peter H. STAHL and his wife Mary nee FEICK, was born Dec. 18, 1861 in Upper Bern township and was baptized Mar. 9, 1862 by Rev. Eberman.  He was confirmed Mar. 18, 1876 at St. Michael’s church by Rev. Zweizig.  He was married June 11, 1881 to Sarah Ann ALTHOUSE by Rev. Zweizig.  He died Oct. 4, 1926, aged 64 years, 9 months, 16 days.  He is survived by his widow, son, daughter, 9 grandchildren, 1 sister, 3 half-sisters and 1 half-brother.  The funeral was held Oct. 8 in Friedens church.  Prov. 10:28.

Marian Lorane POTTEIGER, daughter of Milton S. POTTEIGER and his wife Mary R., nee RENTSCHLER, was born March 7, 1925 at Strausstown and was baptized April 18, 1925 by Rev. Klick.  She died Oct. 6, 1926, aged 1 year, 6 months, 29 days.  She is survived by her parents, 4 brothers, 6 sisters and maternal grandparents.  The funeral was held Oct. 11 in Zion church.  Mk. 10:44.

Jacob HIBSCHMAN, son of Henry HIBSCHMAN and his wife Elizabeth nee SPAYD, was born Feb. 18, 1854 in Jackson township, Lebanon Co., and was baptized by Rev. T.H. Leinbach.  He was confirmed April 16, 1870 at Myerstown Reformed church by Rev. Dr. Wolf.  He was married Dec. 25, 1873 to Rebecca B. BOMBERGER by Rev. C.H. Leinbach.  He died Oct. 30, 1926, aged 72 years, 8 months, 22 days.  He is survived by 5 sons, 2 daughters, 3 sisters, 6 grandchildren.  The funeral was held Nov. 4.  Ps. 8:4.

George MENGEL, son of Solomon MENGEL and his wife Susanna, nee GRUBER, was born Feb. 17, 1843 in Windsor township, and was baptized April 2, 1843 by Rev. Jaeger.  He was confirmed in St. Michael’s church.  Later he was married to Fietta MOYER.  He died Nov. 8, 1926, aged 83 years, 8 months, 21 days.  He is survived by a son, 6 daughters, 37 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren.  The funeral was held Nov. 12.  Jas. 5:11.

Mrs. Sarah Anna MILLER, nee REICHERT, daughter of Jacob REICHERT and his wife Juliana, nee MILLER, was born Jan. 2, 1846 in Upper Tulpehocken township and was baptized May 24, 1846 by Rev. Mennig.  She was confirmed in Zion church by Rev. Dietzler.  On Feb. 27, 1869 she was married to Jonathan MILLER by Rev. Finfrock.  She died Dec. 2, 1926, aged 80 years, 10 months.  She is survived by 2 sons, 2 daughters, 1 sister, 10 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren. The funeral was held Dec. 8, in Zion church.  Col. 3:2.

Nathanael McALLISTER, son of James McALLISTER and his wife Elizabeth, nee GRETH, was born Jan. 28, 1836 in N. Heidelberg township and was baptized Feb. 15, 1836 by Rev. Gerhard.  He was confirmed April 25, 1863 in Christ church by Rev. Grahn.  He was married the first time to Elizabeth LIVERS, Oct. 3, 1856.  On June 10, 1865 he was married to Elizabeth Ann SCHAEFFER.  He died Dec. 13, 1926 at Womelsdorf, aged 90 years, 10 months, 14 dsys.  He is survived by 1 son, 6 daughters, 35 grandchildren, 46 great-grandchildren, 8 great-great-grandchildren and 1 sister.  The funeral took place Dec. 15 in Christ church.  Gen. 25:8.

Adam Reuben GRETH, son of Emmanuel GRETH and his wife Susanna, nee REIFSNYDER, was born July 17, 1850 in N. Heidelberg township and was baptized Oct. 14, 1850 by Rev. Schmidt.  He was confirmed by Rev. Steck at Christ church.  He was married the first time to Isabella H. RICHARD May 23, 1874 by Rev. Trexler.  The second time he was married to Mary M. BALTHSER Aug. 24, 1901 by Rev. Long.  He died Dec. 26, 1926, aged 76 years, 5 months, 9 days.  He is survived by his widow, 3 daughters, 1 son, 2 grandchildren.  The funeral was held Jan. 1, 1927 in Christ church.  Jas. 1:12.

Mrs. Hannah SCHADE, nee WAGNER, daughter of Isaac WAGNER and his wife Susanna, nee SCHMIDT, was born Dec. 16, 1855 in Upper Tulpehocken township and was baptized May 20, 1856 by Rev. Dietzler.  She was confirmed April 26, 1873 in Zion church by Rev. Finfrock.  On Jon[typo]. 30, 1879 she was married to Ezra I. SCHADE by Rev. Finfrock.  She died Jan. 8, 1927, aged 71 years, 23 days.  She is survived by her husband, 2 sons, 3 daughters, 1 brother, 2 sisters and 4 grandchildren.  The funeral took place Jan. 14 in Zion church.  Ps. 90:12.

Adam Joseph HENNE, son of Samuel HENNE and his wife Barbara, nee NOLL, was born May 20, 1857 in Jefferson township and was baptized Jan. 3, 1858 by Rev. Zehring.  He was confirmed by Rev. Finfrock in Zion church.  He was married Nov. 2, 1878 to Lena FREEMAN by Rev. Finfrock.  He died Jan. 16, 1927, aged 67 years, 7 months, 25 days.  He is survived by 6 sons, 2 daughters and 9 grandchildren.  The funeral was held Jan. 20 in Zion church. Rom. 6:23.

Irma Agnes MARBURGER, daughter of Herbert D. MARBURGER and his wife Annie B., nee WOLF, was born Dec. 22, 1925 at Rehrersburg and was baptized May 23, 1926 by Rev. Klick.  She died Jan. 25, 1927, aged 1 year, 1 month, 3 days.  She is survived by her parents, 4 sisters and 1 brother and maternal and paternal grandparents.  The funeral was held at the house Jan. 23, interment in Trinity cemetery.  Jer. 31:3.

Mrs. Kate M. HUMMEL, nee LONG, daughter of Adam LONG and his wife Catharine, nee WEIDMAN, was born July 22, 1888 in Bethel township and was baptized Nov. 18, 1888 by Rev. Trexler.  She was confirmed Oct. 31, 1903 in Trinity church by Rev. Trexler.  She was married Nov. 10, 1906 to Walter HUMMEL by Rev. Trexler.  She died Feb. 1, 1927, aged 38 years, 6 months, 9 days.  She is survived by 1 daughter, 1 son, Father, 3 sisters, 2 brothers and 1 step-sister.  The funeral was held Feb. 5, in Trinity church.  Ps. 90:12.

Mrs. Hettie Ann Elizabeth RENTSCHLER, nee LONG, daughter of JoelLONG and his wife Sarah Ann, nee ZETTLEMOYER, was born Sep. 2, 1860 in Upper Bern township and was baptized Sept. 29, 1860 by Rev. T.T. Jaeger.  She was confirmed Mar. 29, 1877 in Friedens church by Rev. Trexler.  She was married May 28, 1887 to Albert H. RENTSCHLER by Rev. Trexler.  She died Feb. 4, 1927, aged 66 years, 5 months, 2 days.  She is survived by a daughter, 7 grandchildren, 3 sisters, 2 brothers.  The funeral was held Feb. 10 in Frieden’s church.  Heb. 4:9.

Harry Jacob PAUL, was born in Upper Tulpehocken township Nov. 27, 1875.  He was baptized in infancy by Rev. Huntzinger.  He was confirmed Oct. 23, 1892 By Rev. T.C. Leinbach in Zion church.  He was married to Sallie H. HIMMELBERGER Oct. 8, 1896 by Rev. Zweizig.  He died Feb. 6, 1927, aged 51 years, 2 months, 10 days.  He is survived by his widow, a brother.  The funeral took place Feb. 11 in Zion church. Rom. 8:28.  He was a Spanish-American War veteran, Co. A, 4th Reg., Pa. Vols.

Adam MERKEY, son of Peter MERKEY and his wife Maria, nee MERKEY [typo?], was born Nov. 4, 1851 in Bethel township.  He was baptized and confirmed in Salem church March 25, 1876 by Rev. Rexler.  He was married to Rebecca DECK Feb. 13, 1875 by Rev. Trexler.  he died Feb. 10, 1927, aged 75 years, 3 months, 6 days.  He is survived by his widow, 2 sons, 3 daughters, 8 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.   The funeral took place Feb. 13, in Salem church.  Heb. 13:14.

Dorothy H. OXENREIDER, daughter of George C. OXENREIDER and his wife Katie, nee HOLZMAN, was born Jan 17, 1927 in N. Heidelberg township and died Feb. 26, 1927, aged 10 days.  Survivors are the parents, 2 brothers and 3 sisters.  The funeral was held in St. paul’s church March 1.  Job. 1:21.

Irvin C. RENTZ, son of John D. RENTZ and his wife Ellen M.,, nee MENGEL was born Nov. 19, 1867 at Shartlesville and was baptized in infancy.   He was confirmed in Friedens church by Rev. Trexler.  He married Annie S. HENNE with whom he lived 26 years.  He died Mar. 3, 1927 at Wayne, Pa., aged 59 years, 4 months, 14 days.  There are no survivors.  The funeral was held Mar. 7 in Freidens church.  Ps. 119:76.
