Ancona, Sydenham E. He was born in Warwick, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, November 20, 1824, and, removing to Berks County, was for several years connected with the Reading Railroad Company. He was elected in 1860 a Representative from Pennsylvania to the Thirty-seventh Congress serving on the Committees on the Militia and on Manufactures. In 1802 he was re-elected to the Thirty-eighth Congress, serving as a member of the Committees on Manufactures and on the Militia. Re-elected to the Thirty-ninth Congress, serving on the Committee on Military Affairs; and he was one of the Representatives designated by the House to attend the funeral of General Scott in 1866. In March, 1867, he was appointed by President Johnson Navy Agent at Philadelphia, but was not confirmed by the Senate.
