Cyrus J. Rhode

Cyrus J. Rhode, Berks county, was born June 11, 1832, In Greenwich township. Berks county. Pennsylvania, lived and worked on a farm up to the age of sixteen years; attending the public schools during winter time. Later attended the Keystone State Normal school at Kutztown, through different periods, equivalent to one year in all. At the age of sixteen learned the bricklayer's trade, which he followed for thirteen years, teaching alternately during the winter time in the public schools of Berks and Lehigh counties, and working at his trade during the summer time; later was engaged in the milling business, and for the last ten years has carried on the baking business and also been connected with the fire insurance business.
