Abner K. Stauffer

Abner K. Stauffer (23d J.D., Berks), born October 11, 1836; died November 4, 1906. Admitted to the Bar April 15, 1861.

He was a son of John Stauffer, Esq., at one time a member of Assembly from Berks County, and for eight years an Associate Judge of its courts, before the office became elective. Mr. Stauffer graduated at Franklin and Marshall College in i858; read law in the office of John S. Richards, Esq. He practised forty-five years, devoting himself largely to office business, in which he had relations with a numerous class of individual clients and commercial agencies. He served for many years as a member of the municipal councils of Reading, in which capacity he accomplished many projects for the development of the city and its institutions. Mr. Stauffer was a progressive and public-spirited citizen, and a model of fidelity in his personal and domestic relations.
